Even though we’ve changed and we’re all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we’ll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world takes us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we’re not all still friends.

A friend is someone who, upon seeing another friend in immense pain, would rather be the one experiencing the pain than to have to watch their friend suffer.

Just the Way I’m Not - All Time Low

10 Ways To…Tell if your friend needs help: SEVEN
  1. They start “restricting” or cutting out food.

  3. You notice a thin layer of hair growing on their body.
  4. They won’t go out as much with you and your other friends.

When one’s seriously underweight, we start to lose vitamins and minerals and eventually, the lack of such things is obvious. Not enough biotin - hair gets finer, fingernails are weak. Not enough zinc - dry and cracking skin. So when you see your friend’s hair falling out and their fingernails getting weaker and weaker, that’s a problem you might want to start watching.

TRY: Pointing it out to your friend. They may get a little defensive, but it’s important that they know you know.

    2) Friends in Highly Low Places

this is just my words of encouragement to anyone struggling :)
it does get easier and you will recover! once you’re recovered, you learn to appreciate being healthy and enjoy food. i had an eating disorder (EDNO w/ anorexic and bulimic tendencies) and it was really hard. i was always sick and cold and my period was hell. the cramps were so bad because i wasn’t eating right (if at all) and i always had the most random colds that would last weeks. once i decided “alright. that’s enough. i need to be healthy.” and i took it a day at a time. i didn’t get right back to my eating habits right away, but eventually i got there. an eating disorder is something that you can never full recover, because you will always be around food. but i do believe it gets easier to push those bad habits out of your head and stay on the right track forever. once you decide to recover, your life gets so much better.
you just really have to believe that you are beautiful. and that being healthy is beautiful. and exercise can be really fun and eating healthy is really yummy and there is no guilty feeling after!
you can do it!! and my ask box is always open if you want to talk :)

10 Ways to…Tell if your friend needs help: SIX
    1. They start “restricting” or cutting out food.
    2. They talk badly about their body.
    3. You notice a thin layer of hair growing on their body.
    4. They won’t go out as much with you and your other friends.
    5. Yellow teeth.
    6. Lack of periods.

When your body starts to shut down from losing weight, one of the first things that happens is your period stops or gets really irregular. And let’s face it: when we’re close friends with people, our cycles get synced. So if you start to notice that your friend isn’t matched with you anymore/isn’t getting her period at all, that’s a serious red flag.

      Try: Asking her about it.

10 Ways to…Tell if your friend needs help: FIVE
      1. They start “restricting” or cutting out food.
      2. They talk badly about their body.
      3. You notice a thin layer of hair growing on their body.
      4. They won’t go out as much with you and your other friends.
      5. Yellow teeth.

Gross, huh? Well, it’s true more in bulimics than in anorexics. The acid from vomiting erodes the enamel on our teeth. So, the more one’s vomiting, the yellow-er and more cracked their teeth are going to be. Besides the obvious signs of disappearing after every meal, be sure to see if your friends’ pearly whites are starting to resemble the teeth of a pirate these days. Arrgh…

TRY: Getting your friend to smile if you want to check their teeth.
